Richard (RJ) Bohnert: RJ is a graduate of West Chester University with a B.S. in Exercise Science. His direction into the field of Exercise Science came from an upbringing of being involved in multiple sports and being active. If you do not find RJ in the gym, he enjoys being outside playing golf, riding his bike, maintaining his garden during the summer, or at the beach.

During his undergraduate studies, RJ was able to assist in programming for some of the collegiate athletic teams. This led into Sports Performance industry by completing internships at Maplezone Sports Institute (MSI) under Rob Rabena overseeing training regiments of highschool, collegiate, and professional overhead athletes. Following graduation, doing another internship at Reach Your Potential Training (RYPT) under Bobby Smith and Adam Feit. These two experiences jumpstarted RJ’s career right out of the gate and he is forever grateful for both of these opportunities to learn from some of the best in the business.

These internships initiated sitting for and passing the NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as well as receiving the USA-Weightlifting Level 2 certification. Along the way becoming comfortable with Barbells, Kettlebells, Maces, Machines, and any equipment you can think of to find the best fit for the individual. Using the training principles from continuing education, he started training athletes of all shapes and sizes allowing them to increase strength & power, but most importantly making sure the client’s safety was top priority.

The next step for RJ was figuring out how to manage anyone who came with some sort of pain or discomfort which led to applying to Physical Therapy school. Currently he is a Doctor of Physical Therapy student (SPT) at Stockton University, class of 2023. Physical Therapy school has amplified the ability to be labeled the movement professionals in the healthcare system as the curriculum dives into great depth of research, clinical application, and further detail on how the body works. The combination of physical therapy and performance training with a high level of empathy towards clients & athletes allows for the ultimate training experience. RJ’s aspirations are to spread the notion that movement is medicine ; find strategies to allow everyone to enjoy the process of training so that they can enjoy the many health benefits and optimize their quality of life through movement.
